Ooooo, did you know this is a husband and wife duo? Their new release has got a juicy bassline, dark synths quietly in the background, contemporary soul beats and a female showing of her vocals in 'Little Girl'. We're writing about LIL IDLI, Chicago based Contemporary Soul and Indie Pop band.
Ranjani Prabhakar and Deepak Gopinath decided to blend their musical styles and compose music during 2020, in their home music studio. It's a good way to past the time and a lot of musicians have been saying that creativity came more easily to them during this pandemic. Interesting to hear.
'Little Girl' is the first taste of what is to come from LIL IDLI duo. The soulful pop duo can be found between Jill Scott's music, Alicia Keys (when she started about 20 years ago) and Indie Arie mixed with Pop beats.
What would you tell your younger self? How would you manifest your inner child? This track was written a while back, at a point where she didn't believe she was enough and her vocals represented that. But, now, she is rearing to go and is more upbeat and positive because her mother kept sending her messages, reminding her that anything is capable.
Gopinath is the producer to this single. Percussionist and arranger, he brings his jazz, contemporary and arts knowledge to the forefront, whilst giving us a calming, minimalist sound. The hook is her unique vocals and riffs, that will have you remembering this song immediately.
