Dominique Simone- Sweater

Her voice is relaxing and calm. Emotions are poured into every lyric she sings and effortlessly warms our senses with her voice. Dominique Simone, British R&B singer tackles the mental health people had during Lockdown 2020. We're in July now, so over 18 months of being in and out of our homes. For some it has been harder than others.

This lullaby narrating black British singer brings us an impressive song, that accomplishes slow jams, whilst delicate R&B is the obvious reference. A meaningful downtempo pace, with a layer of acoustic guitar notes being played, the lyrics of this song sheds light on how people battle being isolated and not feeling like they can talk to their family and friends. But 'Sweater' is a positive song, as it's for people who want to take that first step and believe in themselves.

Dominique's words are "I understand how hard life can be. We can all have days where we don't want to leave our rooms and days where we kind of feel sorry for ourselves and we think that the universe is being unfair to us. I just want the message to be that the first step is getting up and believing that you, in that moment are worth it, that you are enough. I want to make music that you feel glad you found.

I hope people will feel heard when they listen to my music. I seek to find those complicated feelings and put them into words because it can be hard to decipher what's going on in your head. Always remember you are not alone!"

Dominique is well aquainted with the music video settings. It shows us how life can be so busy and she is inspired by her raw approach to songwriting. At a time when things are still uncertain, listening to music is a great way to calm yourself.

The benefits of listening to any song, especially, 'Sweater' by Dominique Simone, is that it's another form for processing emotions and it can utilise as a regular or calming piece of music for anxiety and more.

As you're listening to this smooth R&B 'Sweater' track, do you connect with the song? Does it make you feel safe, calm and give you comfort? Do you feel emotions through her lyrics? Keep listening to her song. Add it to your Relaxing playlist.
